We love heading off to the dirt track for a Saturday night of dirty racing action.
Lancaster Motor Speedway is our local dirt track in Lancaster, SC. The Late Models are usually the headlining class, but the lower levels can really mix it up too. One of our favorites is the Vintage class. The cars are hardly actual vintage–a thin rule book means racers mostly use old ARCA or Late Model Stock chassis with junkyard sheetmetal. The engines also run the gamut because almost anything is allowed as long as you use a cast iron block and cylinder heads.
For this race Mike Huey allowed us to plant some Go Pro cameras on his 1965 Mustang and Kenneth Deese also agreed to the same with his beautiful ’55 Chevy. The two usually battle each week for wins, but this fight was cut short when Deese broke a track bar sent him into a spin on the front stretch (you can see it at the 35 second mark).
And while you are here, you can also check out the video we shot the same night of the Crate Sportsman class mixing it up on Lancaster’s red clay.
